The rules I hold myself to.
One invitation, once
One invitation, once. Refusal, hesitation, deflection, silence, subject change, or “maybe sometime” all end it.
No asking why. No second attempt.
Who not to ask
Do not ask someone who is:
- working
- serving me
- trapped
- seated beside me
- wearing headphones
- hurried
- distressed
- intoxicated
- alone in an isolated place
- in any power relationship with me
Do not follow, block, touch, or extend an exit.
No re-approach
Do not re-approach the same person unless she initiates.
Process it afterward, alone
Process the feelings afterward, alone.
